Print Story
Photograph by Carl Calhoun Daniel Villa is a self-taught relief printmaker based in Stockton, California. Every print is hand-carved and hand-pressed using traditional linocut, woodcut, and Mokuhanga techniques on archival materials. His work has been exhibited at the de Young Museum, the California Museum, and Yosemite National Park.
His work draws from Mexican and Japanese printmaking traditions, sitting at the intersection of culture, craft, and conservation. Made entirely by hand, one block at a time.
